Samsung And Visa Team Up To Create Contactless Payments Through Mobile Phones
Samsung and Visa are believed to have released information regarding a partnership to release Mobile Phones which can be used to make Contactless Payments.
The technologies used include NFC technology, or Near Field Communications, which transfers data over a short distance of typically 4cm and Visa Contactless Payment technology.

Ofcom Announcement Due On Termination Rates
It is believed that an announcement is due from OfCom (Office for Communications) on reducing the Mobile Termination Rates charged by Mobile Network Operators when a caller calls someone who is on a different network.
Currently, Mobile Networks charge typically 4p per minute for a call made to a phone number which is on a different network.

New EU Law Bans 3 Year Contracts
New EU Laws proposed in November 2007 are expected to come into force on May 1 2011.
Under the law, Mobile Operators and retailers will be forced to offer contracts that are no longer than 24 months - effectively banning the option of 36 month contracts.

Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia and software developer Microsoft are believed to have entered into a partnership.

Vodafone and Gamma Telecom Reach MVNA Deal
Vodafone has gained a deal with Gamma Telecom whereby Gamma Telecom partners will be able to operate as Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNOs).
The deal is a loss to the 3 Network which had held the deal with Gamma Telecom, for three years, until Gamma Telecom struck a deal with Vodafone.

Orange and T-Mobile have combined to form one of the United Kingdom's largest Mobile Telephone Networks, with an estimated 30 million subscribers / customers.
The merger is known as Everything Everywhere with Orange and T-Mobile being wholly owned by Everything Everywhere.
